In Ring Road, smart and confident, Lauren Serra is impatient to move into her new home. Why wouldn’t she be? The eighteenth-century farmhouse holds over 200 years of Ring Family history, including clues to the missing Ring ruby pendant. But Lauren wants more from the home than the mystery it promises. She hopes the house will fertilize the child she and her new husband Drew have been storking for the past few years. As they settle into the home, Lauren’s connections with the Ring family deepen, drawing her closer to the history explored in Meredith Kazer's 'The Keeping House'. When she is confronted with the tragic Ring family secrets, an untoward event nearly tears her marriage apart. Close companions in sorrow, Lauren and the Rings find strength in one another and the missing threads needed to mend their tattered lives.

Mysteries are like the moon. They wax and wane, becoming clear before disappearing entirely, only to reappear in a new light. This was true for Lois Gaffin, who was drawn back to the unsolved abduction of an infant from Saint Sebastian’s Hospital in 1963 while watching a home shopping show on TV. When not consumed by her developing obsession with Lauren, the owner of the historic farmhouse across the street from the Ring Road, Lois connects with Annie—the ghost she met in her newly-leased carriage house. Something significant happened there, but Annie hasn’t revealed what it is. Yet. The mystery of the carriage house deepens after Lois visits the town records office, library, and historical society. She becomes convinced that the infant may have lived in the area surrounding The Keeping House. When Lois takes the next step in her relationship with Lauren, they begin to uncover critical clues about the history of the carriage house. A new romance with Gordon, the quirky town librarian, adds another layer to their vintage mystery squad. As they delve into the mystery of the carriage house, Lois must confront the life challenges that brought her there or risk being overwhelmed by them.

At ten years old, Meredith Kazer was rarely found without a Nancy Drew book in hand. After finishing the series, she eagerly moved on to the Hardy Boys Mysteries and then delved into Agatha Christie’s works. It's no surprise that when she began to pursue her own fiction, elements of mystery naturally found their way into her romantic writing, particularly in her novel, The Keeping House. Meredith Kazer is a proud graduate of Fairfield University's MFA program and earned her PhD from New York University. Before embarking on her fiction journey, she published eleven professional nursing books and received four American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Awards. Now, as a full-time academic, she enjoys spending her free time with her husband and adult children, often exploring new stories along the Ring Road of life through reading and writing.
